catrice Squeeze Me

Hey lovelies!

Today's polish was the first polish in the new catrice range that piqued my interest when previews came out. It was also the first one I picked up when I spotted the new polishes in store.

catrice Squeeze Me is a murky petrol with fine golden shimmer. The formula is decent, as well as pigmentation. 2 coats.

The brush however is shoddy at best. If you've followed reviews about the new catrice nail polishes on other blogs you will have heard a lot of the things already. If not, here is my take on this monster.

catrice touts the brush as an "innovative reservoir brush" (source here). On the plus side, it is flat and wide, just what I've come to appreciate in a nail polish brush. This is also, sadly, the end of the rather short list of favorable attributes. On the negative side, it has been cut unevenly at the side (it flares out on one side) and is less arched at the tip. This makes application tricky and practically *begs* for clean-up. I also noticed no "reservoir" effect, excess polish still slid down the brush onto already polished areas. Which makes for uneven distribution and patches that are thicker than others.

If you can overlook the crappy brush this beautiful polish is actually worth the price (slightly raised from 2,50€ formerly to 2,75€ now) and hassle in application. It's unique in my stash though and gorgeous.

    1. Unique, it is! Not even OPI LIve And Let Die comes close imo.

  2. I still wonder why I'm the only one who doesn't hate the brush? I don't get it. To me it seems to be the exact same as the old one :D

    1. Maybe you got lucky in the bottles you chose? Or maybe your nail beds are shaped differently that it doesn't make a difference in application? :D

  3. Such a great color! I would overlook a lot of faults in a brush if Catrice would start selling over here. :)

  4. The color is so pretty, the shimmer really makes is special. Too bad about the brush, it does look rather uncomfortable.
