Hey lovelies!
OPI Mother Road Rose is a deep mauve with pink shimmer. Some sources say it's a frost but mine behaved rather like a shimmer so I'm going to say it has a shimmer finish :D Application was great. The formula is good and well pigmented.
I have read several times that Mother Road Rose is supposed to be from the Red Like Roses collection from 2007. Although I have little proof I must disagree with that.
In 1997 OPI came out with a collection called "Route 66". (Here is a link to Nails Mag about it though this doesn't name MRR.) I have read a lot of articles about the USA and I know that the legendary Route 66 has also been dubbed "Mother Road". Add 1 and 1 and I conclude that Mother Road Rose was part of the Route 66 collection in 1997! This site lists MRR in the Route 66 collection along with the aforementioned ones in the Nails Mag article. And here is a nice pic that shows all the colors of the Route 66 collection. So, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. :D
There is a bit of "grandma color" attached to it. Right now that doesn't bother me. Being the freaky USA fan that I am I will keep it for the name alone. And I guess a couple of years down the road I'm going to wear the heck out of it :D
All this research has made me lust for Root Beer, both the drink and the polish. Pretty much unattainable for me :(

Wow, an oldie. Looks nice and there were some really pretty classic shades in that collection.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I agree. The purple-ish shades are gorgeous and I have a soft spot for Root Beer Float. :)
DeleteAn oldie but a goodie, such a pretty colour, never seen it before.
